About the numbers

The numbers are based on information collected through TVINN (TVINN is the Norwegian Customs electronic system for exchanging customs declarations). The Norwegian seafood council receives the numbers from Statistics Norway. The numbers are classified according to valid commodity codes (HS codes) found in the Customs Tariff. The commodities are also grouped by product types and other attributes.

Values

Product weight in tons: Net weight of the product.

Product weight in tons WFE: Estimated weight when calculating the product weight to whole fish equivalents.

Value in 1000 NOK: The statistical exports value for the goods when passing the border, also called the FOB-value (Free On Board). Taxes, customs or other fees are not included in the statistical value.

Price in NOK/kg: The price is calculated by dividing the statistical value by the product weight.  

Updates

Monthly numbers are updated on the third working day of the month. Weekly numbers are updated each Wednesday. Revised numbers are made available on the 15th of the month, or the first working day following the 15th.

Possible errors

Errors might be present if there has been errors in the customs declaration, for example if incorrect commodity codes have been used, or if the statistical value includes costs which should have been left out. Possible errors can be reported to the Norwegian seafood council by sending an inquiry to: insight@seafood.no. The errors will be communicated to Statistics Norway. Possible corrections will be included in the revised numbers.
